Long before the name above the door, there was "ehtmamachoch" — Amharic for "Sisters." It began in 2018 with two sisters, one jebena of coffee, and a handful of tables set out on a borrowed veranda. Two sisters open a handful of tables and a single jebena under the name Ethiopiamachoch.

The cafe grows into a full kitchen, serving Ethiopian dishes from morning coffee to evening dinner.

The first guest rooms open upstairs — the cafe becomes a place to stay the night, not just the afternoon.

Roasts every batch by hand and runs the coffee ceremony that started it all. If you smell frankincense at the door, she is already pouring.

Keeps the recipes the sisters grew up on and the rooms warm for every guest. Nothing leaves her kitchen she would not serve her own family.
